Brussels – European Parliament members voted Thursday to strip Polish Member of the European Parliament Grzegorz Braun of his immunity, opening him up to potential prosecution in Poland.
The vote, held during a session in Brussels on March 26, 2026, came after Polish prosecutors requested the waiver of immunity twice, according to reports. The decisions relate to allegations of damaging the flags of Ukraine and the European Union, as well as denying the Holocaust. Onet News and TVN24 both reported on the outcome.
This marks the third and fourth times Braun has lost his parliamentary immunity. MSN reported that the Parliament sided with the two requests from Polish prosecutors.
The move underscores the Parliament’s willingness to cooperate with national legal proceedings against its members when serious allegations are made. The case highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding political expression and historical accountability within the European Union.
