JAKARTA — Former Bima City Police Chief AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro, recently dismissed following an ethics violation investigation, has been reassigned within the National Police force. The unexpected move raises questions about the process of dismissal and subsequent personnel actions within the Indonesian police system.

On February 19, 2026, the Police Commission of Ethics (KKEP) delivered a decision to dismiss AKBP Didik from service.

“The decision was for dishonorable discharge, or PTDH, as a member of the National Police,” said Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, Head of the Public Information Bureau, during a press conference at the time.

AKBP Didik became a suspect in a drug case after authorities discovered a suitcase containing narcotics in his possession. The evidence included 16.3 grams of narcotics, 49 ecstasy pills, two used ecstasy pills, 19 alprazolam pills, two “happy five” pills, and 5 grams of ketamine.

The KKEP determined that AKBP Didik had committed a disgraceful act by accepting money and narcotics from AKP Malaungi, the former head of the Bima City Police Narcotics Unit. The funds and illegal drugs originated from a drug kingpin.

On February 27, 2026, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo issued a personnel transfer order that included AKBP Didik.

The transfer was formalized in a Police Telegram with number ST/440/II/KEP./2026.

AKBP Didik Putra Kuncoro was reassigned as an officer in the Public Service (Yanma) division of the National Police.

Police Explanation

How could a police officer who had already been dismissed be reassigned by the National Police?

Police Public Relations Division Head, Johnny Eddizon Isir, explained that the decision to transfer AKBP Didik to Yanma was made to facilitate the completion of the dismissal process.

“The Chief of Police remains firmly committed to enforcing the ethical code decision and the criminal process in the case of AKBP DPK (Didik Putra Kuncoro),” Johnny Eddizon Isir told Kompas.com on Monday, March 2, 2026.

He stated that the reassignment would streamline the administrative procedures required for the dismissal.

“The transfer of the individual as a Pamen Yanma will simplify the personnel administration process in carrying out the KKEP decision, in addition to the investigation being carried out by the National Narcotics Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police,” Johnny said.
