Quebec City police arrested a former Bloc Québécois member of Parliament Tuesday morning on multiple allegations of sexual assault, some dating back nearly two decades.
Pascal-Pierre Paillé, 47, faces five charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, and assault with a position of authority, according to police. The alleged offenses occurred in 2006 and 2024.
Authorities apprehended Paillé, who also works as a teacher, after an investigation that began in late January 2026. He is currently being held and appeared in court Tuesday afternoon.
The allegations from 2024 involve sexual assault and touching a person under the age of 16 in August. The earlier accusations, from January to June 2006, involve sexual assault and touching an adolescent over whom he had authority, Le Devoir reported.
Paillé served as the MP for Louis-Hébert, a riding in the Quebec City area, from 2008 to 2011. La Presse reported that a young man came forward alleging he met Paillé on the Grindr app when he was 14 years traditional and that they later encountered each other at a secondary school where Paillé was employed.
The Centre de services scolaire de la Capitale has suspended Paillé from his teaching duties since February 2, Radio-Canada reported.
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to come forward. The case highlights the ongoing scrutiny of public figures and the importance of reporting alleged misconduct.
