Archetype Entertainment has released a new gameplay video for Exodus, offering a first look at the sci-fi action RPG in action. The video showcases both combat and exploration, giving viewers a direct experience of gameplay within the title.
The footage highlights a battle sequence early in the game, taking place outside Lyonesse, featuring Jun, Tom, and Elise engaged in intense firefight. This is followed by a segment demonstrating movement through a space tower.
The final portion of the video focuses on exploring an ancient Celestial temple on Khonsu, providing a quick overview of the diverse environments players will encounter in this promising title.
A More Action-Oriented Mass Effect
The gameplay footage reveals clear stylistic and thematic similarities to Mass Effect in its setting and overall aesthetic. Although, Exodus appears to prioritize a faster, more dynamic action experience while still maintaining RPG elements. This approach could appeal to players seeking a more immediate and visceral sci-fi adventure.
The Austin-based Archetype Entertainment team is a division of Wizards of the Coast and includes veterans from BioWare, as well as Naughty Dog and 343 Industries.
In Exodus, humanity has fled a dying Earth and established a new home in a hostile galaxy, fighting for survival. The story centers on the Traveler, humanity’s last hope.
The core objective involves stealing weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe, who too represent humanity’s greatest enemy.
A unique feature of the game appears to be time dilation experienced during space travel: time will be relative, and days for the protagonist can equate to decades back home, leading to unpredictable consequences that can alter the world.
Previously, the game was showcased with a trailer at The Game Awards 2025.
