Gameplay footage has been released for the highly anticipated sci-fi title, Exodus, revealing a visual style reminiscent of the Mass Effect series.
Exodus, a promising sci-fi role-playing game, was announced in 2023 by Archetype Entertainment, a studio founded by former BioWare employees – including key figures involved in the original Mass Effect. The first extended gameplay sequences debuted in December 2025, following brief clips shown at The Game Awards.
The gameplay showcases three characters – Jun, Tom, and Elise – in Lyonesse, a port city located on the planet Lidon. Players can expect cover-based shooting mechanics as the trio engages in combat with both human and robotic opponents. The footage as well demonstrates the use of a “Railclaw,” a grappling hook-like device, allowing Jun to scale the exterior of an Orbital Tower connecting Lyonesse to the asteroid Cherag Harbor.
The final segment of the released gameplay takes place on the planet Khonsu, where Jun approaches an ancient, potentially alien shrine. This suggests a focus on exploration and uncovering the mysteries of a long-lost civilization, a common theme in the sci-fi genre.
Exodus is set 40,000 years in the future, depicting a scenario where humanity has abandoned a dying Earth and established a society within a cluster of star systems 16,000 light-years away. The game’s setting reflects a growing trend in science fiction to explore themes of interstellar colonization and the challenges of building new societies.
The game is slated for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S in early 2027, though a specific launch date has not yet been announced. Viewers will need to log in to YouTube due to age verification requirements to access the gameplay video.
