Fallout: New Vegas Remake? Iron Galaxy Sparks Fan Theories

Update 10:35 PM: Iron Galaxy has issued a statement denying any connection to rumors. In a post on Bluesky, the developer stated that the Fallout: New Vegas loading screen is a regular fixture at their monthly meetings and the image has no bearing on current work.

The team did, however, accept the opportunity to playfully tease Fallout fans.

“As you may have guessed, we love Fallout. Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re retreating back to our vault.”

Original story follows.

Rumors of various remasters for the Fallout franchise – particularly concerning Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas – have been circulating for some time. Following the conclusion of the TV series’ second season in February, speculation had quieted down somewhat.

This week, the conversation reignited.

Iron Galaxy Studios sparked the renewed interest with a seemingly innocuous post on LinkedIn. The developer included an image that Fallout fans have interpreted as a hint regarding Fallout: New Vegas.

“Today we’re having our February internal meeting. Time to figure out what the company has been up to and what’s next for Iron Galaxy,” the team wrote.

The accompanying image shows a computer displaying what appears to be an internal PowerPoint presentation. The first slide in the presentation features the loading screen from Fallout: New Vegas, with the words “Please stand by.”

The choice of image doesn’t necessarily indicate anything concrete. It’s also possible the studio is simply playing with fans eager for official news. Iron Galaxy has previously worked on both Fallout 4 VR and Fallout 76, and is known for its remastering work. The studio’s portfolio includes Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and the PC version of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2. Iron Galaxy also assisted with the PC launches of The Last of Us Part I and Part II, as well as Metroid Prime Remastered for Switch.

The Fallout: New Vegas splash screen sparked speculation among fans.

Bethesda

Bethesda’s Todd Howard recently stated he’s not as opposed to remasters as he once was. In an interview with Kinda Funny, the Fallout lead suggested that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has opened the door for more similar releases.

However, he isn’t a fan of remakes that rebuild games from the ground up.

“I respect the others out there, but I genuinely believe the age of a game is part of what the game is, in a way its personality and what it represented when it came out.”

If Bethesda has a Fallout: New Vegas project in the works, it’s likely to be a fresh coat of paint for the original 2010 release.
