Volkswagen has reported a dip in registration figures for March, a trend attributed to an increasingly crowded and aggressive automotive marketplace.
Vice corporate director Jochumsen highlighted the intensity of the current landscape, noting that “Notice 50–60 brands fighting now” and that “the competition is fierce.” This proliferation of brands has intensified the struggle for market share, placing pressure on established manufacturers.
The weak performance in March follows a period of significant volume, with the company stating that they delivered an extreme amount of vehicles in December.
While Volkswagen faced challenges, other brands demonstrated local strength. Nissan reported a strong month in March, and MG continues to maintain steady sales. Jochumsen expressed satisfaction with the performance of both Skoda, and Volkswagen.
The fluctuation in registration numbers underscores the volatility currently facing the sector. Despite these variations, Jochumsen believes the broader market has returned to a stable level.
