Across several Brazilian cities, public health officials are intensifying efforts to boost influenza immunization rates through coordinated “D-Day” vaccination campaigns. These initiatives are designed to maximize community coverage and protect vulnerable populations from seasonal respiratory illness.
In Belo Horizonte, health authorities have set an ambitious target to administer 1.1 million doses as part of their D-Day vaccination drive. Increasing the vaccination rate is a critical public health priority to reduce the burden on healthcare systems during peak flu seasons.
Similar efforts are underway in Passo Fundo, where the D-Day campaign has seen a high turnout, particularly among elderly citizens. In Porto Alegre, the local government announced that all health units would be open on Saturday, April 12, 2026, to facilitate access to the flu shot. To further encourage participation, the city of Porto Alegre also implemented free public transportation (Passe Livre) for the day.
Alternative delivery methods are also being utilized to reach the public. In Jundiaí, a drive-thru vaccination site at Parque da Uva remained operational until 4:00 PM, according to reports from G1. These diverse strategies—ranging from open-door clinics to drive-thru services—underscore the ongoing effort to ensure wide-scale immunization and protect public health across different urban centers.
