Forlì, Italy – A unique musical partnership took center stage on March 7, 2026, as Matilde Montanari, 20, and her aunt, Sara Montanari, 39, auditioned for the latest season of ‘The Voice Generations.’ The duo delivered a powerful rendition of the Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly” during the blind audition round.
The performance marks a significant moment for the rising singer, Matilde Montanari, who recently won first prize at the 38th edition of Percoto Canta. This latest achievement builds on her growing momentum in the Italian music scene.
The strong bond between the pair was highlighted during the show, with Matilde recalling watching her aunt Sara perform in musicals as a child, and now receiving her support in pursuing her own singing dreams. The episode aired following the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Paralympic Games.
The duo chose to join Team Nek
All five coaches turned their chairs for the performance by the two singers from Forlì. Matilde and Sara joined Team Nek, with the coach praising their technical skills and the fact that Matilde studies electric bass at the conservatory. The next episode of ‘The Voice Generations’ is scheduled for March 13.
Matilde is a member of the Santa Balera youth orchestra
Matilde Montanari is already a known voice in her community. She is a member of the Santa Balera youth orchestra, dedicated to promoting traditional Italian dance music. The group performed the iconic song ‘Romagna mia’ by Secondo Casadei at the Sanremo Music Festival in 2024, celebrating the song’s 70th anniversary. In addition to her musical pursuits, Matilde also organizes youth parties called ‘Big fun, no trip,’ providing safe and enjoyable events for young people. She recently released her debut EP, ‘Grazie per il trauma,’ featuring five live recordings, further expanding her musical portfolio.
The Voice Generations Format
Hosted by Antonella Clerici, ‘The Voice Generations’ features groups comprised of family members, friends, or colleagues of different ages, united by a shared passion for music. The coaching panel includes Loredana Bertè, Arisa, Nek, Clementino, and Rocco Hunt. The initial three episodes are dedicated to the traditional blind auditions, where the judges listen to performances with their backs turned and decide whether to add contestants to their teams based solely on vocal ability.
