Former CM Queen Embraces Natural Gray Hair at 60

Former “CM Queen” Takami Matsumoto is redefining beauty standards for women in their 60s by embracing her natural silver hair. The model and former commercial star made a striking appearance on April 12, 2026, at the opening stage of the “Suteki na Otona no Gokigen Fest 2026” in Tokyo, where she appeared alongside singer Maki Nomiya and talent Marina Watanabe.

Matsumoto, who rose to fame in 1986 as a model for All Nippon Airways’ Okinawa campaign and became a ubiquitous face in commercials for brands like Coca-Cola, stepped out in a chic ensemble featuring a cape blouse, trousers and vibrant pink heels. Yet, it was her sophisticated gray hair that stole the spotlight.

The 60-year-old revealed that she stopped dyeing her hair nearly five years ago. Instead, she has transitioned to a “natural hair highlight” technique to enhance her graying locks. On social media on March 13, 2026, Matsumoto shared her experience with this approach, noting that the results had lasted three months since her last treatment in late 2025.

“Due to the fact that the amount of gray hair varies depending on the position on the head, I can enjoy various gradations of gray, highlights, and natural hair by changing my part to the center or sides,” Matsumoto wrote, adding, “I never would have thought of this when I was dyeing my hair!”

Continuing her journey toward natural beauty, Matsumoto reported on April 12, 2026, that she had received another round of natural highlights for the first time since the finish of last year. She noted that as the amount of gray hair increases, she finds she cares less about the time between treatments, though she does maintain her look using a recommended color shampoo and treatment to suppress yellow tones.

By openly discussing her transition to gray hair, Matsumoto continues to influence trends in aging and beauty, demonstrating a shift toward authenticity and natural grace in the public eye.
