WWE Legend Alberto del Río Arrested in Mexico Following Domestic Violence Allegations
Former WWE superstar Alberto del Río, widely known by his ring name “El Patrón,” has been detained by authorities in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, following allegations of domestic violence against his wife.

The incident took place on April 6, 2026, in the Lomas del Tec neighborhood. According to reports, the victim contacted 911 to request urgent assistance after suffering blows to her face and arms. Local authorities reported that the victim was found with visible injuries and has since been placed under medical and legal care. Following the report, José Alberto Rodríguez Chucuan—the man behind the “El Patrón” persona—was arrested and transferred to the State Attorney General’s Office (Fiscalía General del Estado) in San Luis Potosí.
The arrest has brought renewed public attention to his wife, Mary Carmen Rodríguez Lucero. A 41-year-old native of San Luis Potosí, Rodríguez Lucero is a recognized high-performance cyclist in the local sporting community. Her competitive record includes a first-place finish in her category and a tenth-place overall female ranking at the 2022 GFNY Zapopan, as well as notable participations in the 2023 GFNY Monterrey and the 2024 Gran Premio Potosí.
Beyond her athletic achievements, Rodríguez Lucero is a mother of two and maintains a significant social media presence. With over 20,000 followers on Instagram, she frequently shares glimpses of her training, travels, and family life. In recent posts, she had publicly supported del Río during his stint on the reality show La Granja VIP and shared reflections on resilience and self-worth.
The relationship between the two reportedly became public in 2024, when they began sharing images of their life together and international travels on social media. This legal development marks a sudden turn for the couple, who had remained constant figures in each other’s personal and professional lives over the last two years.
The situation remains developing as officials process the case of the former wrestler and ex-WWE star for alleged family violence.
