Fortaleza: Flu Vaccine Available This Weekend – Locations & Groups

Fortaleza residents have expanded opportunities to protect themselves against the flu this weekend, with vaccination clinics open both Saturday, March 21st and Sunday, March 22nd, from 11 a.m. To 4 p.m. These clinics will be located at the Iguatemi Bosque shopping mall, in the Edson Queiroz neighborhood, as well as at 15 healthcare centers throughout the city.

The state of Ceará began its annual influenza vaccination campaign a week ahead of the national rollout, having received 221,310 doses of the vaccine on Friday, March 20th. Approximately one million people are eligible for vaccination in this initial phase. This proactive approach to vaccination is particularly important for protecting vulnerable populations and reducing the spread of seasonal influenza.

The early start to the vaccination campaign comes in response to a recent increase in flu-like illnesses reported in the capital city. However, during this first phase, vaccinations will be limited to specific groups, including:

• Children aged 6 months to under 6 years (5 years, 11 months, and 29 days).
• Individuals aged 60 years and older;
• Pregnant women and those who have recently given birth;
• Healthcare workers (public and private sectors), teachers (basic and higher education), and professionals in security, rescue, and the Armed Forces;
• People with underlying health conditions.

To receive the influenza vaccine, individuals must present a photo identification document. The municipal health team will be stationed in the Praça Rendeira, located on the older side of the Iguatemi Bosque shopping mall.

In addition to the shopping mall location, the influenza vaccine will also be offered at 15 health centers across various neighborhoods of Fortaleza. The locations are:
