After years of requests, fans of the racing series will finally be able to explore the diverse landscapes of Japan, from the modern streets of Tokyo to historic temple paths. The anticipation for the game is already high, with Playground Games’ latest title ranking as the fifth most anticipated game on the entire Steam platform. Now, the developers have released a new update to further build excitement.
Following the visually stunning trailer unveiled at the January Developer Direct, Playground Games has revealed 10 new features for Forza Horizon 6 designed to raise the stakes ahead of launch. The update includes a fresh set of elements, including gameplay surprises, details about the explorable environments, and new methods for designing the perfect vehicle. Here’s a breakdown of the features that will define the experience on Japanese roads.
• Iconic Japanese Landmarks. Players will be able to drive through locations like the Shibuya district, Tokyo Tower, and Ginkgo Avenue, while also enjoying mountainous views in areas including Mount Haruna and the Bandai Azuma region.
• More Dramatic Seasons. Playground Games promises “even more dramatic” seasonal shifts compared to Forza Horizon 5. Players will also be able to experience consistently snowy weather in the Japanese Alps.
• Horizon Rush. A new event that challenges players to complete obstacle courses built throughout Japan.
• Meeting Points. Players can encounter others at various meeting points scattered across the Japanese map. Forza Horizon 6 also introduces Time Attack Circuits, where the goal is to complete short laps in the fastest time possible.
• Garage and World Customization. Players can decorate their own space with Customizable Garages, and The Estate will add new elements to the open world. Forza Horizon 6 offers multiplayer building in EventLab.
• Car Markets. The open world of Forza Horizon 6 will include markets where cars can be purchased, offering the opportunity to snag unique models at more affordable prices.
• Proximity Sensor. A new option to help identify nearby vehicles, especially when they are in blind spots.
• Enhanced Audio. Alongside technical advancements that make the sounds of the environment and vehicle operations more realistic, Forza Horizon 6 incorporates Triton Acoustics. This is a “spatial reverberation system” that “simulates real acoustics by generating reverberation signals from the virtual positions of objects in the game.”
• New Customization Options. Forza Aero has been updated to provide more options for shaping cars, complemented by the ability to now paint decorations on windows.
• Improved Animations. Playground Games has also updated steering animations, with “up to 540 degrees of steering rotation.”
