According to witnesses, a Renault Scenic vehicle sped into the station area around 6:50 PM local time, bypassing the pumps and colliding head-on with a pedestrian crossing sign in front of the commercial space. The force of the impact was substantial, lifting the rear of the vehicle before it crashed back down. Debris, including a headlight, was scattered as far as 150 meters from the point of impact.
“We heard a huge noise and everyone in the store panicked!” one witness recalled.
Emergency responders arrived to find the driver of the Scenic in cardiac arrest. Despite their efforts, they were unable to revive the man, who authorities say was in his thirties. The incident occurred along a busy stretch of highway, but fortunately, no pedestrians were struck.
Passenger Transported from Scene by Second Vehicle

The occupant of the Peugeot quickly removed the passenger from the damaged Scenic and drove away with her in the direction of Antibes, without waiting for further assistance. The investigation has been taken over by the Cannes research brigade at the direction of the Grasse prosecutor’s office. On Thursday, December 19th, a drone was deployed to capture aerial photographs of the crash site.
