Yves Vanderhaeghe felt the sting of defeat against his former club, KV Kortrijk, as Francs Borains delivered a stunning upset.

Francs Borains secured a crucial victory in their fight to avoid relegation on Saturday, emphatically defeating a strong KV Kortrijk side. The result is already being hailed as the biggest surprise of the weekend.

The win is a setback for Yves Vanderhaeghe, who previously managed Kortrijk and led them to the Playoffs before returning to the club in the 2024-2025 season. Kortrijk entered the match with high stakes, as a second-place finish in D1B guarantees direct promotion.

The first half saw a single goal from Ali, giving Francs Borains a 1-0 lead at the break. Kortrijk responded early in the second half, with Adinany leveling the score at 1-1 in the 56th minute. However, Francs Borains then took control of the match. Ali scored again in the 60th minute, followed by a goal from Lavie, making it 3-1.

Ali completed a hat-trick in the 74th minute, extending the lead to 4-1, which proved to be the final score. This result significantly boosts Francs Borains’ survival chances, moving them one point ahead of RWDM and within one point of Seraing in the league standings.
