Freiburg Cautious Ahead of Europa League Clash with Genk

SC Freiburg is aiming for a historic first European quarterfinal appearance, but coach Julian Schuster is warning against complacency as they prepare to face KRC Genk. Having previously been eliminated by Juventus and West Ham, Freiburg sees a favorable opportunity against the Belgian side in this Europa League matchup.

“Feeling like the favorite can be dangerous,” Schuster cautioned. “However, we absolutely have the ambition to advance to the next round. Reaching the quarterfinal and making history for our club would be something special. You can feel the ambition and motivation in training, and we need to focus on our game rather than overanalyzing the opponent.”

Despite the optimism, Freiburg isn’t planning an all-out attack in Genk. When asked if a draw would be acceptable, Schuster responded, “That depends on the circumstances of the match. It’s difficult to say beforehand, but considering our strength at home, we could certainly live with a draw.”
