Samsung’s recently announced Galaxy S26 Ultra is already showing signs of potential fragility, with early adopters reporting damage from even minor drops. This highlights the increasing importance of protective accessories for premium smartphones as manufacturers push the boundaries of design and materials.
Dents Reported After Single Drop
A user on Reddit posted images of a new Galaxy S26 Ultra with a visible dent after a single drop, raising concerns about the device’s durability. The damage, while not extensive, is a worrying sign for owners of the expensive new phone.
To mitigate potential damage, users are being advised to invest in a protective case. Several options are already available, including models from TORRAS on Amazon.
Aluminum Frame May Be More Susceptible to Damage
The potential for damage may stem from a change in materials. Unlike its predecessor, the Galaxy S26 Ultra features an aluminum frame instead of titanium. Apple made a similar switch with the iPhone 17 Pro.
Samsung explained to SamMobile that aluminum was chosen to enable a slimmer design without compromising everyday durability. Yet, the material is also less heat conductive than titanium.
