Gasoline Shipment Discovered in Arecibo
Authorities in Arecibo, Puerto Rico, have located a vessel carrying multiple gasoline containers. The discovery comes as the island closely monitors fuel prices and supply, with the Department of Economic Affairs and Commerce (DACO) actively tracking costs to ensure reasonable pricing for consumers.
According to DACO data updated February 14, 2026, current retail gasoline prices across the island vary by brand. Total gasoline is priced at $78.70 for regular, $94.70 for premium and $87.70 for diesel. Puma lists regular at $77.70, premium at $94.70, and diesel at $87.70. Gulf’s prices are $74.70 for regular, $86.70 for premium, and $79.70 for diesel.
The DACO report details pricing for several other brands including Ecomaxx, Bita’s, American Gas, ULTRA TOP FUEL, Texaco, 76, Phillips, Sol/Mobil, Shell, T-Express, and Sunoco. Wholesale price reports for February 14, 2026, February 13, 2026, February 12, 2026, February 11, 2026, and February 10, 2025 are also available for download. GasBuddy currently lists the cheapest gas prices in Arecibo.
The incident is likely to draw further attention to fuel distribution and pricing mechanisms in Puerto Rico, particularly given the essential nature of gasoline, diesel, and liquefied gas for the island’s residents. The DACO’s Division of Economic Studies is responsible for monitoring these prices and ensuring they remain within reasonable parameters.
