Globo Expands Global Footprint with New Co-Productions and Format Sales

Brazilian media conglomerate Globo announced a wave of international partnerships and content deals today, signaling a major push to expand its presence in the global entertainment market.

At Mipcom in Cannes, France, Globo Head of International Business and Co-productions Angela Colla unveiled several key agreements, including a U.S. adaptation of the series “The Others” with Anonymous Content, and a co-production with BBC Studios for a documentary series set in the Amazon rainforest. The company also secured format deals for popular telenovelas like “All the Flowers” and “Leyla,” extending their reach into Europe and beyond. This expansion comes as Brazil seeks to increase its cultural influence internationally.

Globo is also collaborating with Fox Entertainment Studios on an original English-language Christmas movie filmed in Brazil, aiming for cultural authenticity in its portrayal of Brazilian traditions. Additionally, a partnership with Ron Leshem, creator of the original “Euphoria,” will result in the co-production of a new series, “Paranoia,” described as a blend of “Black Swan,” “Whiplash,” and “Euphoria.” “We are storytellers, and our greatest triumph is our commitment to quality and to representing the best of our people,” Colla stated. Globoplay’s series “Perfect Days” has already become the most-watched original series on the platform, demonstrating the growing appeal of Brazilian content.
