Sony concluded its State of Play presentation on Friday with the confirmation of a “God of War Trilogy Remake” project, alongside the unexpected launch of a spinoff title, “God of War: Sons of Sparta,” available immediately.
The announcement featured T.C. Carson, the original voice actor for Kratos, who confirmed the project and hinted at his return to the God of War franchise.
The initial God of War game debuted in 2005 for the PlayStation 2, followed by a sequel in 2007. God of War 3 then launched on the PlayStation 3 in 2010.
Sony has not yet announced a release date for the “God of War Trilogy Remake,” stating that development is in its early stages. The presentation showcased only the game’s logo, without any gameplay footage. This news underscores the continued demand for reimagined classic titles in the gaming world.
Meanwhile, “God of War: Sons of Sparta” arrives as a 2D action-platformer developed by independent retro game studio Mega Cat Studios. The game is currently available for PlayStation 5 at a price of $29.99 (Rp504,000).
The game tells a story set during Kratos’ youth, as he trains alongside his brother, Deimos. Players will utilize a spear, shield, and artifacts in combat. The game’s narrative was written by Sony Santa Monica and is narrated by T.C. Carson as adult Kratos.
