Global GPU shipments experienced a slight decline in the fourth quarter of 2025, according to the latest analysis from Jon Peddie Research. The firm’s report indicates a decrease in both dedicated desktop graphics cards and the broader GPU market, signaling potential headwinds for the industry as it navigates component supply challenges.

Worldwide shipments of desktop graphics cards totaled 11.48 million units in Q4 2025, down from 12.02 million units in the previous quarter. Jon Peddie Research attributes this drop to emerging shortages of DRAM, which impacted purchasing decisions. This figure encompasses all dedicated desktop graphics cards, including those sold individually and those integrated into pre-built PCs from major manufacturers like Lenovo, Dell, and HP. Graphics cards found in laptops and integrated GPUs within processors are not included in this total.

Despite positive reception for AMD’s Radeon RX 9000 series, the company experienced a significant downturn in global dedicated graphics card sales during Q4 2025, capturing only 5% of the market share, according to JPR. Intel managed to maintain a presence with over 1% market share. NVIDIA further solidified its dominant position, accounting for 94% of all desktop graphics cards sold worldwide. This concentration of market share underscores NVIDIA’s continued strength in the high-performance computing space.

Expanding the scope to include all GPU types – integrated processors and laptop graphics cards in addition to desktop cards – the total market reached 75.6 million units in the fourth quarter of 2025, compared to 76.6 million units in the prior quarter.

AMD demonstrated growth in this broader market, increasing its share to 18% in Q4 2025 from 15% in Q3 2025. The company’s gains are largely attributed to its integrated GPUs found in processors, as AMD exited the mobile graphics card market approximately three years ago with its Radeon RX 7000 mobile series. This performance allowed AMD to gain ground on Intel, which saw its share decline to under 60%.

Despite declining CPU retail sales with the LGA1700 and LGA1851 platforms failing to gain widespread adoption, Intel maintains a strong hold on the PC OEM market, though its influence is gradually diminishing, decreasing from 65% in Q4 2024 to 59% in Q4 2025. (JPR1 / JPR2)
