Graz Bank Robbery: Police Release New Images of Suspect
Authorities in Graz, Austria, are continuing their search for a man who robbed a bank in the Andritz district on Wednesday, February 11, 2026. The ongoing investigation has prompted police to release additional images of the suspect and the distinctive bag he used during the crime, hoping to generate leads from the public. The robbery underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking down perpetrators of financial crimes.
According to police, the suspect entered the Steiermärkische Sparkasse bank around 3:45 PM and threatened five employees with what appeared to be a handgun. He then forced a female employee to bind her colleagues with tape and cover their eyes before demanding access to the vault and safe deposit boxes. The suspect ultimately fled with an undisclosed amount of money.
The suspect is described as a man between 25 and 50 years old, approximately 5 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 2 inches tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and a black cap, along with a blonde wig, orange/red frameless sunglasses, and a white FFP2 mask. He also sported flat, plate-shaped earrings and spoke with a Styrian dialect and a relatively high-pitched voice.
A key piece of evidence in the investigation is a black Slazenger sports bag, model “Wheel Holdall,” with wheels, that the suspect carried. Police have released images of the bag in hopes that someone will recognize it. More images of the suspect and the bag have been released to the public, according to reports.
Investigators are asking anyone with information about the suspect or the robbery to contact the Steiermark State Criminal Police Office at 059133/60-3333.
