An association dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families has received a significant boost from Groupama, a French insurance company. The funding will enhance well-being programs and expand access to supportive care at the Institut de Cancérologie Sainte Marie in Chalon-sur-Saône.
Groupama Provides €2,000 for Oncossup
Groupama has donated €2,000 to Oncossup (Oncologie Soins de Support), an organization founded in April 2017 by physicians and staff from the chemotherapy and medicine 2 departments of the Institut de Cancérologie at Hôpital privé Sainte-Marie. The donation, split equally between the local branches in Chalon-sur-Saône and Saint-Marcel, will be used to purchase equipment and support patient programs. This type of financial support is crucial for organizations providing vital services to individuals navigating the challenges of a cancer diagnosis.
The contribution includes sweat shirts for the association, a roll-up banner for promotional purposes, and specialized equipment – PSiO glasses and headphones – that will allow Oncossup to treat an additional 80 patients per month. The PSiO Clinic system combines music or voice-guided relaxation with light stimulation.
In addition to the financial donation, Groupama is providing volunteer support through a “skills-based volunteering” program. Christelle Villemain, a Groupama employee, completed training in the PSiO Clinic method and will dedicate her time to providing luminotherapy sessions to patients. This demonstrates a commitment to hands-on support alongside financial contributions.
Oncossup aims to improve the well-being of patients undergoing chemotherapy, oncology, and palliative care. Programs include providing refreshments, yoga classes, cosmetic products, adapted physical activity, light therapy, family support, aromatherapy, and assistance with administrative tasks. The association is located within the radiotherapy center and serves patients across various stages of their cancer journey.
