Renowned physician Guy T’Sjoen is trading his white coat for a kitchen apron in a high-stakes culinary battle and he has a very specific goal in mind. Appearing on the final season of Komen Eten on Play, the endocrinologist is using his time on the show as a strategic “open application” to land a spot on Viva La Feta.
The celebrity competition, which airs Monday through Thursday, sees four well-known Flemish personalities attempting to outdo one another in the kitchen. T’Sjoen is joined by comedian Amelie Albrecht, actor Zouzou Ben Chikha, and real estate expert Béa Vandendael, who is making a brief return to the network for the series.
The competition kicks off in Ghent at T’Sjoen’s home, where the doctor joked about the change in scenery, noting, “My consultation is normally in the hospital.” To make a lasting impression, T’Sjoen leaned heavily into a Greek theme, presenting his guests with a menu written entirely in Greek.
However, the meal was about more than just winning the competition. T’Sjoen revealed that his culinary efforts are a direct pitch to Jani Kazaltzis and Otto-Jan Ham. T’Sjoen is openly soliciting a role in Viva La Feta, stating, “I hope, after the heavy efforts I am going to put in during Komen Eten, that they consider inviting me to their beautiful villa in Sifnos. You always have to think one step further.”
The production has also highlighted the luxurious lifestyle of the physician. During the filming, Béa Vandendael expressed her admiration for T’Sjoen’s home, noting that it is located in the Miljoenenkwartier—a neighborhood where, as she put it, “the name of the district says it all.”
Beyond his television ambitions, T’Sjoen has remained vocal about personal and legal challenges. He recently discussed the complexities of starting a family via American surrogacy, arguing that “the legal uncertainty is too great in Belgium.”
T’Sjoen’s transition from medical expert to television personality underscores a growing trend of professional celebrities leveraging reality formats to pivot their public image and expand their media presence.
