Hammerhead has announced a new feature for its Karoo cycling computer called Karoo Share, enabling real-time course sharing among riders.
The Karoo series, which first gained attention with the 2022 release of the Karoo 2, is known for its Android OS-based interface and intuitive usability. The system allows users to operate the device without needing to consult a manual, offering a smartphone-like experience for cyclists. BikeM reports that the Karoo 2 as well supports WiFi and SIM data connectivity.
The Karoo 3, a recent upgrade, is often bundled with the SRAM AXS RED drivetrain. It features notable hardware improvements over the Karoo 2, according to a recent review on Naver.
Hammerhead’s cycling computers are gaining traction among professional athletes. Matt Beers, a Gravel Champion, notes that “Karoo’s accurate maps and navigation keep me on track, no matter where I am riding in the world.” Sofía Gomez Villafañe, also a Gravel Champion, highlights the system’s integration with SRAM ecosystems, stating, “Karoo has such an intuitive system that easily integrates with my SRAM ecosystem.” Other athletes, including Flora Duffy, an Olympic Champion, and Keegan Swenson, the 2025 UCI Marathon MTB World Champion, have also praised the device. Hammerhead emphasizes that the Karoo offers industry-leading navigation and visualizations, advanced connectivity, and 35+ hours of battery life.
The introduction of Karoo Share underscores a trend toward increased connectivity and social features within the cycling technology market. The company states that the Karoo provides all the information needed for training and racing, as noted by Kasia Niewiadoma, the 2024 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift Champion.
