Disgraced Hollywood film producer Harvey Weinstein has revealed his thoughts on Oscar winner Adrien Brody taking on a fatherly role to his two children with ex-wife Georgina Chapman.
The 73-year-old Weinstein is currently incarcerated at Rikers Island in Novel York, serving a 16-year sentence after being convicted on sexual offenses in California in 2022.
Georgina Chapman, 49, separated from Weinstein following 10 years of marriage in 2017, after allegations of sexual harassment and assault against him were revealed in a bombshell New York Times report. The scandal sent shockwaves through Hollywood and sparked the #MeToo movement.
The former couple, whose divorce was finalized in 2021, share a 15-year-old daughter, India Pearl, and a 12-year-old son, Dashiel Max Robert.
Chapman began dating the 52-year-old Brody in 2019, and the actor has since stepped into a paternal role in the children’s lives even as Weinstein remains behind bars.
Brody surprised audiences last year when he revealed in his acceptance speech after winning his second Oscar for Best Actor that India and Dashiel affectionately call him “Pops.”
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Weinstein shared that he is “happy” Brody is involved in his children’s lives. “Yeah. I was happy. It’s good that my kids have somebody in their life,” Weinstein said when asked if he was upset by Brody’s mention of the children during his Oscar acceptance speech. “And Georgina suffered terribly because of me. I’m glad she’s finally found happiness.”
Though Chapman no longer has a relationship with the producer, he claims she still allows him to see their children.
Weinstein also commented on the fallout for Chapman and her luxury fashion label, Marchesa, after the allegations against him became public nearly a decade ago.
He said that many of the actresses who had previously been “dressed so beautifully” by his ex-wife stopped wearing her designs. “I’m sorry she got such a bad reaction,” Weinstein said. “She didn’t know anything about what I was doing. I was a master manipulator. To punish her company is crazy.”
