Honor has unveiled its novel MagicPad 4, a tablet boasting one of the slimmest profiles currently available. Measuring just 4.8mm thick (273.4 × 178.8 mm), the device undercuts competitors like Apple’s 13-inch iPad Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, which both measure around 5.1mm. The new tablet is also a millimeter thinner than its predecessor.

Despite its reduced size, the MagicPad 4 packs Qualcomm’s latest high-end chipset and a large 10,100-mAh battery. The tablet features the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 – distinct from the Elite model – previously found only in smartphones. This configuration suggests a high level of processing power. The chip is paired with either 12 or 16 GB of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of flash storage.

To maintain performance during demanding tasks or gaming, Honor has incorporated a two-way vapor chamber (VC) with a 13-layer 3D cooling system and a heat dissipation area of 81,717 mm². Testing will determine the effectiveness of this cooling system in sustaining peak performance.

The new Honor tablet features a 12.3-inch display (3000 × 1920 pixels), slightly smaller than the 13.3-inch screen of the previous generation, but utilizes a higher-quality OLED panel with a 165 Hz refresh rate instead of LCD technology. The screen also boasts a significantly brighter peak brightness of up to 2700 cd/m², compared to the previous model’s 1000 cd/m².

While the battery capacity is slightly reduced to 10,100 mAh compared to the previous generation’s 12450 mAh, battery life is expected to remain competitive due to the potentially more efficient screen and processor. Weighing in at 450g, the new tablet is 145g lighter than its predecessor, which weighed nearly 600g. This makes it comparable in weight to Apple’s smaller 11-inch iPad Pro (446g).

The tablet runs on Honor’s MagicOS 10, based on Android 16. Honor promises six years of Android updates and security patches, a significant commitment to long-term software support.

Honor states that the MagicPad 4’s software will enable seamless cross-device collaboration with smartphones and multi-platform environments – including Apple’s ecosystem. An optional desktop mode will also provide a “PC-like working experience” with “file management and multitasking workflows,” according to the company.

The new tablet starts at €599. It is available in Gray and White.
