Metz native Hugo Becker, a versatile actor increasingly recognized for his work in television, film, and theater, will host a “Face aux lecteurs” event on Tuesday, March 31, at 11:00 AM at the KLUB cinema, located at 5 Rue Fabert in Metz.

Becker will discuss his latest short film, “La Ligne de vie,” a poignant portrayal of World War I that delves into the heart of the trenches in the Meuse and Marne regions, following the journey of postmen tasked with delivering messages from the front lines. The film by Hugo Becker was selected for official competition at the 82nd Venice Film Festival and chosen as the European candidate for the European Film Awards – the European equivalent of the Oscars. The short film is also gaining international acclaim, having received the award for Best Film at The American French Film Awards in Los Angeles.

“La Ligne de vie” is produced by Laurent Helas of Nouvelle Donne Productions and Pierre-Emmanuel Fleurantin of Paprika Films, with support from the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée, the Grand Est Region, the Meuse Department, Moselle Attractivité, La Poste, and France 2, which will broadcast the film soon. The cast includes Alexis Manenti, Jeanne Goursaud, Damien Jouillerot, Gilles Cohen, and David Talbot.

The film’s success adds to a growing trend of filmmakers revisiting historical events through intimate, character-driven stories. Becker’s project offers a fresh perspective on the Great War, focusing on the often-overlooked role of postal workers in maintaining communication and morale during wartime.
