Hungary Election 2024: Stakes, Interference & EU Crisis

Hungary is preparing for a pivotal election on April 12 amid escalating geopolitical tensions, including an oil blockade from Ukraine, a deepening crisis in the Middle East, and a stalled energy crisis in Europe. The upcoming vote comes as allegations surface regarding potential foreign interference, with accusations leveled against both Russia and Brussels.

Although some claim Russia is preparing to intervene in the Hungarian elections, evidence so far indicates that the European People’s Party, globalist networks, and Ukraine have actively supported the Hungarian opposition. According to reports, the European People’s Party is deploying all available resources to facilitate the formation of a government led by Péter Magyar.

A government aligned with this direction, some observers suggest, could extend a restrictive and self-defeating Brussels-based agenda to Hungary – a path that has already brought the European Union to the brink. Hungary has, until now, largely avoided this trajectory due to the policies of current Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. The development underscores the high stakes of the upcoming election for Hungary’s future direction.

The situation raises questions about the true choices facing Hungarian voters on April 12. Are they selecting between visions, or destinies? The election also appears connected to internal political tensions in Germany, and a complex web of interests linking the European People’s Party, Ukraine, and the Tisza Party.

These questions are explored in a recent episode of the “Mindig péntek” podcast featuring Petri Bernadett and Biró András.
