Iga Świątek’s partnership with the renowned cosmetics brand Lancôme, which generated significant buzz in the spring of 2024, has come to an conclude, Sport.pl has learned. The Polish tennis star made history as an ambassador for the global beauty industry leader.
Tennis fans were likely more captivated when Świątek announced her ambassadorship with On in 2023. The Swiss sportswear and footwear company counts tennis legend Roger Federer as an investor. But when she revealed a collaboration with Lancôme a year later, she crossed into new territory, joining forces with major Hollywood stars. Partnership has now concluded.
Fans Noticed First
Attentive fans of Świątek were the first to spot the change. They noticed on discussions on the X platform that Lancôme was no longer listed among the Polish player’s business partners on her official website. Sport.pl initially contacted Daria Sulgostowska, the PR manager for the six-time Grand Slam champion, to verify the information and request comment on who made the decision. Sulgostowska noted that the tennis player’s team does not provide detailed information regarding business arrangements. Though, she confirmed that there are no joint campaign plans between the 24-year-traditional and the famous cosmetics brand for 2027.
– We present partners on the website with whom we have planned campaigns and promotional activities for the current year – she added.
A request for comment was also sent to representatives of Lancôme, specifically the L’Oréal Group, to which the luxury brand belongs. They confirmed that the collaboration with the Polish player ended on January 31st.
“It was an important and inspiring experience for the brand. During its duration, a number of communication and image projects were carried out, which aroused great interest among recipients and constituted an important element of the brand’s activities in the market. We thank Iga Świątek for her commitment, authenticity and contribution to the implementation of joint projects. We wish her further success – both on and off the court,” read the statement provided to us.
Świątek Alongside Julia Roberts and Zendaya. The Polish Tennis Standout for 24 Hours
The partnership between Świątek and Lancôme was officially announced on April 15, 2024. The tennis player became the first athlete and first Polish ambassador for the brand. She joined the ranks of renowned American actresses Julia Roberts and Zendaya, among others.
“From the question after her second triumph at the Roland Garros tournament, about whether she wears makeup before going to an event, to the role of global ambassador for Lancôme. Iconic Miss Świątek,” Bastien Fachan, who closely follows the marketing aspects of tennis, complimented on X.
The Polish player’s new business partner described her as the voice of the younger generation and an inspiration to all. “Iga has repeatedly proven that she has worked hard for her success, skillfully setting boundaries and establishing her own rules. She has also repeatedly emphasized that the situation of women, not only in sport, but also in other areas, is extremely important to her, which reflects Lancôme’s commitment to women on the path to happiness and self-fulfillment,” it was emphasized.
The decorated tennis player had announced that she wanted to develop a global CSR program in Poland with Lancôme to support women in the labor market.
Świątek’s time as a sporting and tennis standout among Lancôme ambassadors was brief. Just one day later, it was announced that Chinese player Qinwen Zheng would also be taking on the same role.
Fans of the world No. 2 are speculating that the vacancy among her business partners following the end of the Lancôme deal will soon be filled by another global giant. Rumors point to the renowned French fashion house Louis Vuitton. Sulgostowska declined to comment on these speculations.
Last year, after two years, Świątek’s collaboration with Porsche also ended. Currently, among the Polish player’s business partners – in addition to On – are Visa, Rolex, PZU and Lego.
