IIHF Women’s World Championships 2026 heads to Herning and Esbjerg
The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) has announced that Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark, will co-host the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship. This prestigious tournament will showcase top women’s hockey talent from around the globe.
The event is scheduled to take place from April 10-18, 2026. Herning and Esbjerg previously co-hosted the 2025 IIHF Ice Hockey U18 Women’s World Championship, demonstrating their capability to successfully manage a major international sporting event. The IIHF highlighted the existing infrastructure and strong local support as key factors in the decision.
Denmark has been steadily growing its presence in international ice hockey, and hosting the Women’s World Championship represents a significant step forward for the sport in the country. The 2026 tournament is expected to draw considerable attention and inspire a new generation of female hockey players.
