A large crowd gathered Saturday, February 14, 2026, for the Lunar New Year Festival in Jakarta, held at the Bundaran HI roundabout in Central Jakarta. The event drew residents eager to experience the cultural celebration and capture photos at the numerous decorated displays.
“It’s attractive, really beautiful. The decorations are perfect for photos. You’ll see a lot of spots, but because it’s so crowded, you have to be patient to get a good one,” said Jesi, 26, a festival attendee.

Jesi too praised the LED Cahaya Harmoni light show, noting she specifically came to the festival to celebrate both Lunar New Year and Valentine’s Day.
“It’s cool, really good, it’s my first time seeing it,” Jesi said.
“Since it’s a holiday, I thought I’d come with friends to celebrate Valentine’s Day. It’s a fun outing,” she added.
Another attendee, Lidia, 28, said she came to the festival for a relaxing afternoon, but was surprised by the large turnout.
“I didn’t reckon it would be this crowded. I assumed a lot of people would be traveling outside of Jakarta for the long Lunar New Year holiday, but it’s still particularly busy here,” Lidia explained.
Lidia said her favorite part of the festival was the Harmony Lantern Walk, adding that the event provides affordable entertainment for Jakarta residents.
“The lantern walk was great for photos, surrounded by lanterns. But you have to be patient to get a good shot, waiting for moments when there aren’t many people passing by. It takes a while because it’s always crowded,” Lidia said.
“It’s interesting, it’s really great entertainment for residents. It’s affordable, you just pay for parking and you can accept beautiful photos,” she added.
Lidia also complimented the beauty of the lanterns and Lunar New Year decorations at the festival. She expressed hope that similar celebrations will be held for future holidays.
“I hope that if there are celebrations for major holidays, they will continue to be held, as a new and refreshing recreational and tourist spot,” she said.
