Indonesia national team coach John Herdman has expressed his admiration for the team’s new kit, singling out the batik design on the away jersey for particular praise.

Herdman was among the Indonesian team officials present at Thursday’s jersey launch at Plaza Utara, Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) in Jakarta on March 12, 2026. Kit manufacturer Kelme unveiled two versions: a home jersey with a red base and a white-based away jersey.

While he won’t be wearing the kit himself, Herdman welcomed the new designs, emphasizing the importance of cutting-edge technology in the jerseys to support player performance on the pitch.

“The jersey is beautiful. The batik on the white jersey is very traditional. I believe this will help the players connect with Indonesia and understand who they are representing,” Herdman told reporters.

“And the red color is perfect. It truly represents who we are. We are a strong nation with vibrant colors. I think the team is very excited about the new jersey and the new era,” he added.

The Indonesian national team will debut the new kit during the 2026 FIFA Series, facing Saint Kitts and Nevis on March 27, 2026, at SUGBK, followed by a match against either Bulgaria or the Solomon Islands three days later. This series offers a crucial opportunity for Indonesia to gain international experience and build momentum.

The new uniforms similarly mark the beginning of a fresh chapter for the Indonesian national team, arriving on the heels of a new head coach appointment.

“I won’t be wearing the jersey – I’m not that lucky. But the players, of course, will be testing it out to ensure everything is comfortable,” Herdman noted.

“But the texture of the jersey is very good, very breathable, and that’s really what we need in these conditions,” the English coach concluded.
