The entertainment world is mourning the loss of Inez, a six-year-old girl from Zonhoven, Belgium, who passed away in Barcelona on March 22, 2026, following complications from a surgery related to a battle with cancer. The heartbreaking news has resonated deeply, highlighting the fragility of life and the power of community support.
Inez had been fighting neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer, since December 2023. She traveled to Barcelona for a complex operation, and while initial reports indicated the tumor in her abdomen had been successfully removed, a subsequent internal bleed proved fatal. Her mother shared hopeful news just prior to the tragedy, stating, “The cancer in her tummy has been completely removed, the spread to her lungs will be tackled later, when Inez is stronger.”
The young girl underwent intensive therapy, including chemotherapy, surgery, stem cell transplants, and radiation, but the disease continued to challenge her. Additional treatments were needed abroad, prompting her parents to launch a crowdfunding campaign a year ago to cover the substantial medical expenses.
The story of Inez touched countless hearts, inspiring numerous fundraising efforts. Even singer Camille gave a special performance to assist raise the necessary funds for her treatment. Her parents, Ellen and Yves, were overwhelmed by the outpouring of solidarity and grateful for the financial support that allowed them to continue pursuing treatment options for their daughter.

A surgery in Barcelona at the conclude of February initially showed promise, but complications arose in early March, ultimately leading to her passing on Saturday, surrounded by her parents and sister.
Her mother shared a poignant message on Instagram, stating, “An update I never wanted to write. Bad news. Exceptionally bad news that has broken our hearts forever. Inez is Inez. She is not her illness. She fought like a lion, but our heroine deserves a statue. Our hearts are broken forever, but one thing is certain: Forever with four. Thank you, Inez. Thank you for everything. We are incredibly proud of you.”
