InPost Package Sizes & Shipping Rules 2024

InPost is updating its parcel size and packaging guidelines for both individual and business customers, the company announced. The changes, designed to streamline operations and ensure package integrity, will impact shippers utilizing the company’s extensive network of parcel lockers and courier services.

Individual customers will have five size options available: XS (maximum dimensions 40 x 230 x 400 mm, available exclusively through the InPost Mobile app), A (up to 80 x 380 x 640 mm), B (up to 190 x 380 x 640 mm), C (up to 410 x 380 x 640 mm), and D (maximum 500 x 500 x 800 mm, available only for courier shipments processed through the Manager Paczek platform). These updated size guidelines reflect InPost’s ongoing efforts to optimize its parcel locker infrastructure.

The new requirements also address appropriate packaging selection based on parcel weight. For packages weighing up to 5 kg, InPost recommends using two-ply cardboard with a density of at least 375 g/m2. For shipments exceeding 20 kg, the company specifies three-ply cardboard with a density exceeding 427 g/m2. This emphasis on robust packaging aims to minimize damage during transit.

Cardboard boxes must be sealed using the double “H” taping method with tape at least 48 mm wide. Labels should be affixed to the top surface of the package (avoiding seams), on the flat portion of foil packaging, and along the longer axis of tubes. The utilize of glossy paper for label printing is prohibited. These detailed instructions are intended to ensure label readability and adhesion.

Combining multiple packages into a single shipment without an outer cardboard box – often referred to as “bundling” – will be classified as a non-standard shipment and will incur additional fees as outlined in the company’s pricing schedule. Exceptions to this rule include tires and dry pet food in bags weighing up to 20 kg. This policy aims to maintain the structural integrity of shipments and prevent damage within the parcel network.

InPost permits liquids, but only within approved product ranges and limited to a maximum of 5 liters per package. Aerosols, ADR-regulated goods, alcohol, tobacco, e-cigarettes, pharmaceuticals, paints, varnishes, lubricants, car batteries, lithium-ion batteries, and televisions or monitors exceeding 28 inches are all prohibited. These restrictions align with standard shipping regulations and safety protocols.
