Inter Milan’s Serie A title aspirations suffered a setback Saturday as they were held to a 1-1 draw against Atalanta at the San Siro. The result extends a recent downturn in form for the Nerazzurri, raising questions as they navigate a crucial stage of the season.
Following a derby defeat last week, Inter welcomed Atalanta to Giuseppe Meazza on March 14, 2026, and took the lead in the 26th minute through a goal from Pio Esposito.
However, Inter were unable to hold onto their advantage, conceding an equalizer in the 82nd minute courtesy of Nikola Krstovic, leaving the final score at 1-1. Despite dominating possession with 58% of the ball and registering 16 shot attempts, Inter couldn’t uncover a winning goal.

Of those 16 attempts, only three were on target, and Inter committed 10 fouls in frustration as they searched for a breakthrough.
The draw continues a worrying trend for Inter, who have now gone three matches without a win – their first such run since April 2025. Prior to this, Inter suffered a 1-0 defeat to AC Milan and played to a 0-0 draw against Como in the first leg of the Coppa Italia Semifinal.
In the Serie A standings, Inter, who at one point held a 13-point lead, now witness their advantage trimmed to eight points over second-place Milan. A win for Milan over Lazio could further reduce the gap to just five points.
Beyond the winless streak, Inter have managed just one goal across their last three matches. Since the absence of Lautaro Martinez, Inter have scored only six goals in their previous six games. If Inter doesn’t quickly address their scoring woes, their chances of lifting the Serie A title could be in jeopardy.
