Apple is planning a significant shift in its product release strategy, according to supply chain information. The tech giant will unveil its first foldable phone, the “iPhone Fold,” alongside the premium iPhone 18 Pro series in September 2026.
OTHER MODELS TO FOLLOW IN 2027
The iPhone Fold is expected to set a recent standard in the industry with its large 7.8-inch display and a specialized hinge technology designed to virtually eliminate the crease typically associated with foldable devices. This launch marks Apple’s entry into a growing market currently led by Samsung and other manufacturers.
In a departure from its usual practice, Apple is preparing to delay the release of its standard iPhone models. Global supply chain constraints related to AI-focused components, coupled with a strategic focus on the foldable phone, mean the iPhone 18, the budget-friendly iPhone 18e, and the ultra-thin iPhone Air 2 are now planned for a spring 2027 launch at a special event in March.
The company aims to alleviate pressure on its production lines with this move, anticipating two distinct sales waves within the same fiscal year to strengthen its market position. This staggered release strategy could allow Apple to capitalize on different consumer segments and purchasing cycles.
