Iran Launches Attacks on Oil-Rich Gulf Nations

A series of attacks targeting hydrocarbon deposits and infrastructure across the Gulf region have been attributed to Iran, prompting heightened alerts and defensive measures from several nations. The escalating situation raises concerns about regional stability and potential disruptions to global energy supplies.

Bahrain’s Interior Ministry on Thursday, March 12, 2026, urged residents in multiple areas to remain in their homes following an attack on fuel storage facilities. The ministry reported “an Iranian attack against fuel deposits at a facility in the Muharraq Governorate.”

Saudi Arabia’s defense ministry announced it intercepted and destroyed a drone approaching a neighborhood in the capital, Riyadh, where numerous foreign embassies are located.

Kuwait’s defense ministry also reported its air defenses had intercepted several unmanned aerial vehicles as Iran launched attacks against Gulf countries.

Meanwhile, state media in Iran, IRIB, claimed a “precision-guided drone” had struck a tower in Dubai. Dubai’s media office posted on X, stating authorities were responding to “an incident involving a drone that fell on a building.”

a container ship was hit by “an unknown projectile” off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, causing a “small fire” onboard, according to the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO). The ship’s captain reported that all crew members are safe.
