Twelve others were injured, according to a statement posted on X by civil defense authorities. The fatalities were identified as one Indian national and one Bangladeshi citizen. Earlier, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard had announced it had targeted radar systems in the city, which is located approximately 60 miles southeast of the capital, Riyadh.

Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit described Tehran’s attacks on several member states as reckless and a strategic miscalculation during a video conference with the group’s foreign ministers. He stated that the actions were unjustified. Iran had previously launched attacks against multiple Gulf states, including the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait.

According to a military spokesperson, the facility controlled the “Chayyam” military surveillance satellite, which the Revolutionary Guard had been using for “terrorist activities and the monitoring of the State of Israel and its citizens.” It remains unclear whether the strike disrupted the satellite’s connection. Russia launched “Chayyam” for Iran from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in August 2022.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported 394 people have been killed in Lebanon this week as a result of Israeli strikes, including 83 children.

Speaking aboard Air Force One, Trump suggested that the recent airstrikes against the Islamic Republic may render the question of diplomacy irrelevant, stating he was “not looking for negotiations.” Though, Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian indicated on Thursday that Iran is not currently seeking a ceasefire or negotiations with the U.S., telling NBC News, “We see no reason why we should negotiate with the U.S.”
+++ Iran’s Council of Experts is reportedly nearing consensus on a successor to the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.
A name has not yet been announced, but some hurdles in the succession process remain, according to Ayatollah Mohammadmehdi Mirbaqeri, a member of the Council of Experts, as reported by the Mehr News Agency. The Israeli military announced on X that it would continue to pursue any successor to Khamenei, according to Reuters.
