The Saudi ambassador to Indonesia strongly condemned recent attacks by Iran against Saudi Arabia and other Gulf nations, asserting that the actions violate international agreements and seriously destabilize the region. The remarks approach amid heightened tensions in the Middle East and raise concerns about escalating conflict.
The statement was made by Faisal Abdullah Al Amoudi during a press conference at the Saudi Arabian Ambassador’s Residence in Menteng, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
“Iran has carried out attacks that are clearly and demonstrably in violation of international agreements. These actions are destabilizing the region and creating a very serious political threat, particularly directed towards the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia,” Faisal said.

Faisal stated that the Iranian attacks targeted residential areas, vital facilities, and energy installations in several Gulf countries. He argued that these actions undermine solidarity among Muslim nations and fracture regional stability.
“The attacks were not limited to military targets. Homes, essential facilities, and even oil depots were hit. The impact is significant, both materially and non-materially,” he explained.
The ambassador further noted that the majority of Iran’s attacks were not directed at Israel, as widely reported, but rather at its neighboring countries in the Gulf region. He claimed that over 85% of Iran’s attacks targeted Arab and Muslim nations.
“If expressed as a percentage, Iran’s attacks on Israel account for only about 15%. More than 85% were aimed at its neighboring countries – Arab nations, Gulf states, and Muslim countries in the region,” he revealed.
Faisal said his government has repeatedly advocated for dialogue as a solution, but Iran continues to disregard diplomatic efforts.
“Iran even launched attacks even as ministers from Gulf and Islamic countries were gathered in Riyadh last week. This demonstrates Iran’s rejection of the diplomatic solutions we have proposed,” he asserted.
Iran’s continued actions are fueling distrust among regional countries and the international community. “These attacks do not benefit Iran. They only serve to further isolate the country,” he said.
Saudi Arabia, Faisal added, welcomes international support for ending Iran’s attacks, pointing to a consensus among 136 United Nations member states through UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which demands Iran cease its escalation.
“The resolution calls on Iran to immediately halt all attacks and actions that fuel tensions in the region,” he added.
