Escalating tensions in the Middle East saw Iran bracing for further conflict on Saturday, March 8, 2026, following a series of attacks and increasingly strong rhetoric from both Tehran and Washington. The developments underscore growing regional instability and raise concerns about a wider war.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, that Iran would be “pummeled.” In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi warned that if Trump seeks escalation, “it is precisely what our Powerful Armed Forces have long been prepared for, and what he will get.”

Several Gulf states – Bahrain, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates – reported new attacks originating from Iran. In Dubai, one man was killed by falling debris, and the facade of a skyscraper was damaged. The President of the Emirates, Mohammed, stated that his country is now “in a state of war.”

Meanwhile, in Iraq, multiple rockets were reportedly intercepted over the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, according to security sources. Air raid sirens were also activated again in the Jerusalem metropolitan area in Israel.
