Iranian Leader Calls for Immediate Halt to U.S.-Israeli Aggression, Eyes BRICS Role in De-escalation
Iran’s president has called for an “immediate cessation of aggression” by the United States and Israel, seeking to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. The call, revealed by the Iranian Embassy in India via a post on X, comes as regional instability continues to raise global concerns.
The statement followed a phone conversation between Masoud Pezeshkian and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during which the Iranian leader emphasized the need for guarantees to prevent similar actions in the future.
Pezeshkian likewise urged the BRICS economic bloc to play an independent role in curbing actions hostile to Iran. He further proposed the establishment of a regional security framework in West Asia, focused on cooperation among regional nations without external interference.
Prime Minister Modi, also posting on X, stated that he expressed concern and condemned attacks on critical infrastructure in the Middle East. He reaffirmed the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and maintaining the security of maritime transport routes, ensuring they remain operational.
