According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, Rear Admiral Shahram Irani, commander of the Iranian Navy, stated that the movement of the Abraham Lincoln is being closely monitored.
As reported by Middle East Monitor, the enemy aircraft carrier would be targeted once it entered the range of Iran’s missile systems.
IRNA also reported that cruise missiles capable of striking coastal targets were launched in the direction of the U.S. Carrier group, allegedly forcing it to change position. However, as of now, there has been no confirmation from U.S. Officials regarding the claim.
The reports come amid escalating tensions in the region, with the U.S. And Israel reportedly conducting airstrikes against Iran since February 28th, resulting in over 1,340 fatalities, including the country’s Supreme Leader at the time, Ali Khamenei.
Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks targeting Israel, as well as Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf nations hosting U.S. Military assets.
These attacks have resulted in casualties, infrastructure damage, and disruptions to global markets and the aviation sector. The development underscores growing regional instability and the potential for further escalation.
