The conflict between the United States and Israel with Iran has entered its 20th day, with ongoing exchanges of missile fire. The escalating tensions in the Middle East are drawing international concern as the situation continues to unfold. According to reports, over 1,000 people have been killed on the Iranian side during the nearly three weeks of conflict, even as more than 150 U.S. Service members have been reported injured.
SIRENS SOUND AGAIN
The Israel Defense Forces reported on March 1, 2026, that missiles were launched from Iran and that air defense systems were working to intercept them.
IRAN FIRES MISSILES IN SUCCESSION
Iran launched a series of missiles targeting Israel, as well as U.S. Facilities in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, and Iraq. Reports indicate explosions were heard in multiple locations.
RADAR INSTALLATIONS TARGETED
Analysis of satellite imagery and confirmed videos by ABC News indicates that Iran and Iran-backed groups have been targeting missile defense infrastructure that forms the foundation of the early warning systems used by the U.S. And its allies.
The analysis revealed that at least 10 radar facilities belonging to the U.S. And its allies have been struck by Iranian drones and missiles since February 28, 2026.
The radar systems, which rely on rare components and are valued at hundreds of millions of dollars, have sustained damage, according to the report. However, the full extent of the damage could not be definitively confirmed due to restrictions on data access.
At least 25 locations housing U.S. Military personnel in the Middle East have also been hit, including logistical structures, hangars, and fuel storage areas, the report stated.
Iran has reportedly targeted radar systems in at least five countries, including components of the AN/TPY-2 radar that supports the THAAD missile defense system.
Experts suggest that disabling radar systems does not completely eliminate missile defense capabilities, but it does “partially blind” the systems, potentially weakening early warning and intervention abilities.
The report also noted that radars are “high-cost, sensitive, and vulnerable” systems, making them a priority target for Iran.
