Iran has tested a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching distances of 4,000 kilometers, prompting warnings from Israel that European capitals are now within range of Iranian strikes. The development underscores escalating tensions in the region and raises concerns about Iran’s growing military capabilities.
According to Israeli military officials, a recent Iranian attempt to target a British-American base on the island of Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean demonstrated the potential for Tehran to strike cities like Berlin, Paris and Rome.
“Iran launched a two-stage intercontinental ballistic missile with a range of 4,000 kilometers towards an American target on the island of Diego Garcia,” stated Israel’s Chief of Staff, Eyal Zamir, on Saturday. “These missiles are not intended to attack Israel… Their range reaches European capitals – Berlin, Paris and Rome are all within direct threat,” he added.
Zamir also indicated that, after three weeks of conflict, the Iranian regime has been weakened, and Israel’s ongoing operations are currently “at the halfway stage.” He further noted that the Israeli offensive against Iran will continue during the significant Jewish holiday of Passover, which begins at sunset on April 1.
Passover, a celebration of freedom, commemorates the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery and their exodus from Egypt.
