Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated Sunday that his country has no interest in dialogue with the United States, refuting claims by President Donald Trump that Tehran is seeking a deal to complete the ongoing conflict.
“We are stable and strong enough. We are only defending our people. We don’t see any reason why we should talk with Americans, because we were talking with them when they decided to attack us,” Araghchi said during an interview on CBS’s “Face The Nation,” according to CBS News.
“There is no good experience talking with Americans,” he added.

Trump claimed Saturday that Iran wants a deal, but he is not prepared to accept the current terms. The President did not provide further details regarding the proposed agreement. The exchange comes as the conflict between the U.S. And Iran enters its third week, raising concerns about wider regional instability.
“We never asked for a ceasefire and we have never asked even for negotiation,” Araghchi stated.
He as well indicated that Iran is open to discussing safe passage for oil tankers through the strategically important Strait of Hormuz with nations seeking assurances.
