TEHRAN, March 25, 2026 – Iranian authorities have reviewed a U.S. Proposal aimed at de-escalating tensions in the Middle East but have deemed its conditions “excessive,” according to a report from Iran’s state-run Press TV. The development comes amid ongoing regional instability and heightened concerns over potential conflict.
Iranian officials stated they will not accept a timeline for ending the conflict dictated by former U.S. President Donald Trump, insisting that any cessation of hostilities must be contingent upon the fulfillment of their own demands and occur on their own terms. A primary condition for ending the war, officials reportedly said, is a halt to all attacks and assassination attempts.
Regarding the strategic Strait of Hormuz, Iran is demanding recognition of its “natural and legitimate rights” over the vital waterway. This assertion underscores Iran’s long-held position on control and security in the Persian Gulf.
According to sources, the United States on March 24 sent a 15-point plan to Iran outlining steps toward ending the conflict in the region. The details of the plan have not been publicly released, but the Iranian rejection suggests significant disagreements remain between the two countries.
