Accusations are flying between the United States and Iran following a deadly strike on a girls’ school. President Trump has announced an investigation into the incident.

A girls’ school was reportedly bombed at the onset of the Iran conflict, with Iranian officials claiming 165 students were killed. U.S. President Donald Trump has now announced an investigation, stating he is prepared to “live with whatever the report says.” The call for an independent inquiry into the attack in southern Iran came prior from U.S. Opposition politicians.

Meanwhile, the investigative group Bellingcat has released an analysis of a three-second video showing an object impacting a building, followed by a smoke plume mingling with what appears to be smoke from previous strikes. Bellingcat specialist Trevor Ball identified the projectile as a “Tomahawk” missile, manufactured by the United States and sold only to allies. A Bellingcat spokesperson said the footage appeared to contradict earlier statements by Trump blaming Tehran for the attack.

On Friday, The New York Times reported that the United States was likely responsible for the attack, based on an assessment of satellite imagery, videos, and online media reports. According to the Times, the U.S. Is the only country involved in the Iran conflict that employs “Tomahawk” missiles.

Trump, although, stated on Monday that “Tomahawk” missiles are not only sold and used by the United States. He claimed Iran similarly possesses “some” of the U.S.-made missiles. When asked why he was the only one in his administration making this claim, Trump responded, “Because I just don’t know enough about it.”
