Iran Vows Retribution for Security Chief’s Death
Following the death of Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Iranian military officials have pledged retaliation. The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions and after attacks targeting Tel Aviv.
“The pure blood of (Ali Larijani) and other beloved martyrs will be avenged,” stated General Amir Hatami, the chief of the Iranian army, according to a report by the Tasnim news agency. Hatami made the declaration after Larijani was killed alongside others in an attack within Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announced that Wednesday night’s attacks on Tel Aviv, which resulted in at least two fatalities, were carried out “to avenge the blood” of Larijani and other officials killed during Tuesday’s attacks in Iran.
The vow of retribution underscores the escalating cycle of violence in the region and raises concerns about further escalation. The attacks and counter-attacks highlight the complex geopolitical dynamics at play in the Middle East and could influence future diplomatic efforts.
