Amidst the ongoing conflict in Iran and escalating regional tensions, Poland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued travel warnings for citizens considering travel to countries in the Middle East. Attacks have targeted locations not only within Iran but also in nations that support the U.S., Israel, or Iran, including Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, and Bahrain.
Trump Remarks Draw Attention
The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised against all travel to the United Arab Emirates, citing a large-scale military operation in the Middle East. A red warning frame on the gov.pl website states, “The MFA advises against all travel to the United Arab Emirates. A large-scale military operation is underway in the Middle East. Airspace for civilian traffic in many countries in the region remains closed.”
On Monday, March 9, Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski criticized Polish citizens traveling to the region, noting that at least 736 individuals had traveled there since the start of the war in Iran, according to Border Guard data. This included 97 people to Qatar, 271 to Oman, and 368 to the UAE.
Sikorski also pointed out that 37 of those travelers were children under the age of 15. He suggested that traveling to the region during a period of heightened tension was irresponsible and indicated that the government should not bear the cost of assisting citizens who may encounter difficulties leaving the countries. “I hope they will not demand evacuation at the expense of the taxpayer,” he wrote on X.
